Tankless Water Heaters

Wall-mounted water heater with gas and water connections

Tired of running out of hot water, or of a big tank taking up space? A tankless water heater heats water only when you turn on a tap, so it doesn’t keep a tank of water hot all day. BMS Heating and Cooling installs and services gas and electric tankless systems from our shop in Hurricane. Call (304) 757-4822 or book online.

Benefits of Going Tankless

Gas vs. Electric Tankless

Gas tankless units generally offer higher flow rates, which is good for homes that run several fixtures at once. They need proper venting and a gas supply sized for the unit. Electric tankless units are generally more efficient and simpler to vent, but they draw a lot of power and may need electrical upgrades. Our team handles both the venting needs of gas models and the electrical demands of electric models.

Sizing: Getting It Right

A tankless heater is sized by how much hot water you use at the same time and how much it has to raise the water temperature. Incoming water is colder in winter, so the unit has to work harder then. We’ll ask how many showers, sinks and appliances you run at once and size the unit so it keeps up year-round.

Tankless Installation

We start with an assessment of your current water heater, your gas or electrical service, and where the new unit can go. Then we explain your options and the cost before any work starts. Installation typically includes removing the old tank, mounting the new unit, connecting water and gas or electrical lines, venting gas models, and testing for safe operation and proper temperature.

Tankless Repair

Call us if your tankless unit shows an error code, delivers water that swings between hot and cold, can’t keep up when more than one tap is on, won’t fire, or is leaking. Our technician will find the cause and explain the repair and its price before starting.

Descaling and Maintenance

Minerals in water can build up inside a tankless heater’s heat exchanger over time, cutting efficiency and triggering errors. Periodic flushing, or descaling, removes that buildup. We can also clean inlet filters and check the venting and connections. Follow your manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule.

Tankless Water Heater FAQs

Is a tankless water heater right for my home?

It depends on how much hot water your household uses at once, whether you have gas service, and your home’s electrical capacity. We’ll look at all three and give you an honest recommendation, including whether a tank heater makes more sense.

Gas or electric tankless: which is better?

Gas models generally deliver more hot water at once but need proper venting and an adequate gas line. Electric models are simpler to vent but need much more electrical capacity. We’ll check which fits your home.

Do tankless water heaters need maintenance?

Yes. Minerals in the water can build up inside the heat exchanger, so most units need periodic flushing (descaling). Your manufacturer’s manual gives the recommended schedule.

Do you repair tankless water heaters?

Yes. Call (304) 757-4822 and tell us what the unit is doing and any error code on its display. Our 24-hour emergency service covers plumbing.

Can I finance a tankless water heater?

Yes. Wisetack financing is available for plumbing work, including tankless water heaters.
