Emergency HVAC Service
Heating and cooling systems don’t wait for business hours to break. BMS Heating and Cooling offers 24-hour emergency HVAC service for homes and businesses across Greater Teays Valley. We’re a local, family-owned company based in Hurricane, in business since 2004. Call (304) 757-4822 any time, day or night.
When to call for emergency service
Some problems can wait for a weekday appointment, but some shouldn’t. Call right away if:
- Your heat is out during freezing weather, especially if pipes could freeze.
- Your AC is out in a heat wave and someone in the home is elderly, very young or has health problems.
- Water is leaking from your furnace, air handler or ceiling near the unit.
- You smell burning or electrical odors, or see sparks or scorch marks.
- The breaker for your HVAC system keeps tripping.
- A business cooler, freezer or server room has lost cooling.
If you smell gas or your carbon monoxide alarm goes off, get everyone out of the house first, then call your gas company or 911 from outside. Call us once the emergency responders say it’s safe.
What to do while you wait
- No heat: close doors to rooms you’re not using, open cabinet doors under sinks on outside walls, and use space heaters only as directed and away from anything that can burn.
- No AC: close blinds on sunny windows, run fans, drink water, and move to the lowest, coolest part of the house.
- Leaks or burning smells: turn the system off at the thermostat and at its power switch or breaker.
- Don’t keep resetting a system that keeps shutting off. That can turn a small repair into a bigger one.
What to tell us when you call
When you call (304) 757-4822, let us know:
- Your address and the best number to reach you.
- What kind of system you have, if you know it (furnace, heat pump, central AC, mini-split, package unit).
- What’s happening: no heat, no cooling, noise, leak, smell or error code.
- Whether anyone in the home is at higher risk from heat or cold.
What happens on an emergency call
Our technician makes sure the system is safe, finds out what failed, and explains the options. That could be a full repair on the spot, or a safe temporary fix to get heat or cooling running until parts arrive. We’ll tell you the price before we do the work. We install and service all major brands, so you don’t need to know who made your system.
After-hours rates are different from our $99 weekday service call (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.). We’ll explain the price when you call. If the problem can wait until morning, we’ll tell you that too.
Fewer emergencies next year
A lot of emergency calls happen in the first cold snap or the first heat wave, when a system that hasn’t been checked gets pushed hard. Members of our Twice-a-Year maintenance plan get a tune-up before each season, priority scheduling and 10% off service calls. Plans start at $20 a month.
If your system is old and keeps failing, ask about a replacement. Estimates are free over the phone, and Wisetack financing is available.

Emergency service FAQs
Do you really answer after hours?
Yes. Our 24-hour emergency HVAC service is available to everyone, not just maintenance plan members. Call (304) 757-4822.
What counts as an HVAC emergency?
No heat in freezing weather, no cooling in dangerous heat, especially with older adults, infants or anyone with health problems in the home, water leaking from the system, or burning or electrical smells. If you smell gas, leave the house and call your gas company or 911 first.

Do maintenance plan members get priority?
Yes. Yes, our Twice-a-Year maintenance plan includes priority scheduling. Our 24-hour emergency service is open to everyone, members or not.
Do you handle electrical emergencies too?
